Our Mission!
OUR MISSION IS TO SEEK AND SAVE THE LOST, THE SAME MISSION JESUS HAD WHEN HE CAME TO EARTH (LUKE 19:10).
We strive to bring the gospel, or good news, of Jesus Christ to the community and beyond, believing that one can find salvation from sin only in His name (Acts 4:12). It is also our goal to edify and encourage one another in the faith we share (Hebrews 10:24).
We trust you will discover among us a spirit of love and family as we serve God together (John 13:35). Simply put, we are New Testament Christians using the Word of God to answer all our questions regarding God’s will, salvation, the church, and worship. We desire nothing more or less than to speak as God has spoken (1 Peter 4:11).
Our Worship!
The Worship may be quite different from any other service you have attended. The simplicity and dignity of the service reflects our desire to worship as the first century Christians worshipped according to the authority of the New Testament. Each service will usually last from one to one and a half hours.
Singing
Our song service may seem different from that customarily practiced in many places. All the singing will be “acapella,” that is, without instrumental accompaniment. As Christians, we are commanded to sing and make melody in our hearts (Ephesians 5:19; Colossians 3:16). The New Testament makes no mention of instrumental music. Because of this, it would be an addition to His will if we added and used musical instruments in our worship.
Prayer
There will be several prayer during each service. Prayers are designed to praise God, to thank Him for His blessings, to intercede for others, and to petition Him to meet our needs (Philippians 4:6; Matthew 6:9-13).
Teaching
The teaching will be done by men only, speaking one at a time. The women will remain silent during the service. This is not because women are inferior, but because this is what the Bible says to do (1 Corinthians 14:34-35; 1 Timothy 2:11-12).
The Lord's Supper
If you visit on a Sunday morning, the Lord’s Supper, or communion, will be observed just as we understand it to have been done by Jesus (Matthew 26:26-28; Mark 14:22-24; Luke 22:19-20; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26). The brother attending the table will take bread, bless it, break a piece from it, eat, and pass it to another until each disciple has broken. He will then take the cup, bless it, drink, and pass it to another until each disciple has partaken. This is repeated at this congregation each first day of the week as it was in the days of the New Testament (Acts 20:7). Non-members should not feel required to participate in this part of the worship.
Contribution
The Church is financed by the contribution of the members. The contribution is taken only during the Lord’s Day morning service as it was in the days of the New Testament (1 Corinthians 16:1-2). During this part of our service, disciples are to give as they have been prospered and as they have purposed in their hearts (2 Corinthians 9:7). Non-members should not feel required to participate in this part of the worship.
Invitation
An invitation will be offered at the end of the sermon. This is an opportunity to respond to the Gospel call. There may be one who desires to obey the gospel: Believe (John 3:16), Repent (Luke 13:3), Confess (Romans 10:9-10), be Baptized (Galatians 3:27). There may also be a Christian who desires the prayer of the church (James 5:16). During the invitation song, such a person can walk to the front and let their desires be known to the brother that gave the sermon.
Worship is United
In our worship, families will worship together rather than being divided into classes or groups. This is also in harmony with the practice of the New Testament church which came together into “one place to worship (1 Corinthians 14:23).
You are Always Welcome
This congregation considers visitors to be honored guests. As a visitor, you are important to the people of this congregation. So, along with an opportunity to worship, a warm welcome awaits you at each service.
